The myth of the gender battle

With the Left holding virtually no power at the state or national level, one would think that they would be introspective and try to understand how they got here. Instead, the war on women by the Left, particularly in regards to issues such as the often repeated “wage gap” between men and women, is in full swing and the Left is counting on the collective ignorance of their supporters in order to use issues such as this to regain power.

Many who are reading this are scratching their heads at this moment saying to themselves “wait a minute…I thought women made 23% less than men.” Well, like any statistic, if you don’t understand what is being measured and how it is compiled, then you can be easily manipulated into believing something that the numbers are NOT saying. My intent in this article is not to go through those statistics, although I will give an overview on the numbers and what the left is saying about them. My intent is to discuss the political calculations the Left is making by using statistics and issues such as this to manipulate people into giving them power again.

First, the supposed wage gap. The Census Bureau records a wage gap of somewhere around 23%. Wait Jay, doesn’t that bolster the Left’s argument? No, at least not the argument they are trying to make.

The numbers contributing to the wage gap myth

I encourage you to do the research on this, because there is much available out there on wages and the disparity of wages earned by men and by women. Again, I am not going to go into this in depth here. But I will cite and Obama Administration Department of Labor study, where they looked at 50 research studies concerning wages and the supposed wage gap. The conclusions from these studies, outlined in the DOL report, are enlightening. You can click here (2009 DOL gender wage gap final report) to read the final report.

What I wanted to illustrate was one of the central findings of this study. Here is a quote from the report:

“There are observable differences in the attributes of men and women that account for most of the wage gap. Statistical analysis that includes those variables has produced results that collectively account for between 65.1 and 76.4 percent of a raw gender wage gap of 20.4 percent, and thereby leave an adjusted gender wage gap that is between 4.8 and 7.1 percent. These variables include:

  • A greater percentage of women than men tend to work part-time. Part-time work tends to pay less than full-time work.
  • A greater percentage of women than men tend to leave the labor force for child birth, child care and elder care. Some of the wage gap is explained by the percentage of women who were not in the labor force during previous years, the age of women, and the number of children in the home.
  • Women, especially working mothers, tend to value “family friendly” workplace policies more than men. Some of the wage gap is explained by industry and occupation, particularly, the percentage of women who work in the industry and occupation.”

As you dig through this report, and other studies, you begin to understand that once you adjust the statistics for factors such as women seek professions that pay less then the professions where men are predominate, as well as the other factors such as listed above, the statistical difference between the pay of men and women is almost zero. Again, please do your research and understand what all of these differences are before blasting me as a misogynist and ignorantly stating that I don’t know what I am talking about.

This leads me to the point I am trying to make.

The Left is confident that a very large number of people, especially women, will take that 23% number without questioning it. The Left hopes that the collective ignorance of its followers will not question the numbers or their conclusions.

This is a political gamble. As I stated in the beginning, instead of introspection and making changes, the Left is doubling down on the failed policies, principles and rhetoric that has gotten it to the barren political wasteland they currently occupy.

Unfortunately for us all, this may be all the Left has remaining in order to try to return to power. And while the collective ignorance of much of the Left is well documented, it will be the ignorance that pervades the Right which the Left is counting on to help it get back on top.

Ignorance on the right? What ignorance? How does that help the Left?

Simple.

If the Left only gets the willing, ignorant sycophants on their extreme fringe to support it, they know that they have no chance to regain power. Instead, they are counting on repeating the lies over and over its supporters willingly accept so that the myth becomes reality. And if you question that reality, you will be bullied, called a misogynist, racist and more…and if that doesn’t work you will just get blocked on social media and shouted down in public.

As a former Federal investigator, we were taught “perception is reality.” So if you want to change reality, you must change peoples’ perceptions. This is the battle plan for the Left.

By the right not fighting the lies and myths repeated by the Left, by backing away under the Left’s assault on them…those on the Right cede the battlefield to those who would manipulate us all…especially women in regards to this issue.

I read of this exact scenario happening in a Facebook post for a local school board chairman who recently threw his hat into the ring to run for Congress. The issue at hand was that a local county supervisor made reference to the wage gap myth by stating that it exists because women choose the wrong professions. While that is the statement the Left cherry picked in order to blast this supervisor, what she stated is technically correct. Her full explanation was 100% factual. (You can view what this supervisor stated HERE)

The fact that what this supervisor said was factual did not matter to this school board chairman. As you can see in the picture above, he went on to denigrate this supervisor (“right-wing extremist“) for not following along with the Leftist doctrine and then called on ignorant leftists to help him continue the fight.

This is where the leftist political fight will center, folks. This is how they will operate from now on. As they move forward, they will stay on this course in order to capture and secure the #alt-left as well as the ignorant. And they will name call, bully and try to push back against any challenge to their ideology.

Americans will need to steel themselves against this assault. They will need to arm themselves with facts, and with a backbone to stand up to this attack on not only reality, but also the Leftist attack on women.

The War on Women is alive and well. And that war is being prosecuted by the Left.
