25 years ago, on 9/11/2001, our country suffered the worst attack on our homeland since Pearl Harbor. Nearly 3,000 people died on that day, and tens of thousands more have suffered serious health problems in the years since.
This attack was perpetrated by al Qaeda Islamists who wanted to impose their radical form of Islam on the entire world by any means possible. Their chosen means was mass murder of innocents. In the aftermath of the attacks, our country came together unified as we had never seen in modern history, and the world also rallied to our side.
22 years later, on 10/7/2023, Israel suffered the worst terrorist attack in its history. Hamas Islamists with the exact same agenda as the al Qaeda terrorists killed over 1,200 innocent men, women, and children in Israel, and they also raped and tortured hundreds more in front of their families. This was the worst slaughter of Jews since the Holocaust. And unlike on 9/11, these Islamists committed this mass murder by hand, and they laughed, celebrated, and sent videos of it to their families in Gaza, who themselves celebrated and danced in the streets.
The reaction to the 10/7 attack in Israel by leftists across the world, including the Democrats, was radically different from their reaction to 9/11. The Democrats of today, 25 years after 9/11, are not the Democrats of 9/11/2001. They have switched sides.
After the 10/7 attacks, leftists in the United States, enabled by a Democrat president and Democrats in Congress, came out in droves to express their contempt and abject hate for Israel and the Jewish people:
- They set up blockades on college campuses and barred Jewish students – and even some Jewish professors – from going into those blocked off sections of their own campus while yelling obscene and bigoted slurs at them and shouting blood libel accusations against them. And those leftist college administrations not only did nothing to stop them, but they actually defended the leftist oppressors. In one case, a leftist college administration actually barred a Jewish professor from campus for protesting these blockades against Jews.
- The Democrats increasingly stopped supporting Israel and started fielding candidates for office who were and are themselves Islamists or who supported the Islamists and their anti-Israel and anti-Jewish agenda. They are running many such Islamist candidates in this year’s mid-term congressional elections. In a recent vote, half of the Democrats in Congress voted to cut off all sales of arms to Israel – including defensive arms. And the Democrats who don’t share the anti-Israel/anti-Jewish agenda of the rest of their party remain silent or openly defend them as a welcome part of a “big tent.” Only 2 or 3 congressional Democrats openly speak out against the anti-Jewish bigotry rampant in their party. They are the exceptions that prove the rule by how isolated – and oppressed within their party – they are. And even they could help form a Democrat majority that would oppress Jews just by lending their numbers to the Democrat caucus .
- The UN increased its already intense campaign to damage and destroy Israel. In fact, it has been well documented that UN employees actively participated in the 10/7 attacks on Israel with Hamas. The UN has tried to cover it up, has never taken responsibility for it, and has never been held accountable for its active participation in anti-Israel/Jewish mass murder.
- The leftist EU and individual leftist European governments rewarded the Hamas mass murder murder of Jews in Israel by recognizing a Palestinian state and by boycotting Israeli goods – even after Israeli intelligence enabled those countries to prevent similar Islamist terrorist attacks on those countries’ own soil.
- The leftist medical community started canceling Jewish medical providers.
- The leftist entertainment industry started canceling and boycotting Jewish entertainers.
- Leftist professors, who were already indoctrinating students against Israel and the Jewish people, became even more bold in that classroom indoctrination, even going so far as to require Jewish students to stand up in class and renounce Israel or fail the class. And, again, those leftist college administrations not only refused to stop this blatantly bigoted indoctrination, but they defended it as “academic freedom.”
- Marxist Teachers unions across the country implemented curricula in our public schools also indoctrinating our children against Israel and the Jewish people, including displaying maps and globes that label Israel as “Palestine” (a country that has never existed in all of human history).
- When congressional Republicans introduced a resolution to condemn antisemitism, the Democrats first worked to water it down to being meaningless, and when they failed, a large majority of Democrats voted against it. A large majority of congressional Democrats are on record as opposing efforts to fight antisemitism.
- Leftists, including congressional Democrats, have created and promoted the demonstrably false narrative that Israel has been committing a “genocide” in Gaza. This blood libel is sickening given that the Jews were victims of an actual genocide. And the documented truth is that Israel has conducted its defensive operations against Hamas in Gaza in the most humanitarian way of any military operation in history, with the large majority of casualties being members of Hamas. And the large majority of civilian casualties were the result of Hamas using them as human shields.
- The leftist “news” media enthusiastically pursued – and continue to pursue – a campaign in their supposed “reporting” on Israel of demonstrably false anti-Israel propaganda, including the “genocide” narrative, that they know is false.
- Many leftists have even gone so far as to concoct conspiracy theories that Israel was behind the 9/11 attacks that have been conclusively proven to have been perpetrated by Israel’s sworn Islamist enemy al Qaeda. These conspiracy theories are rooted in centuries old anti-Jewish blood libels, including the infamous Russian-fabricated Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which many leftists site as authority for their anti-Jewish blood libels. This includes Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens, a couple of prominent outlier former conservatives who left the conservative movement when their antisemitic bigotry and conspiracy theories were resoundingly rejected within the conservative movement and Republican Party and joined the leftists and Democrats in order to promote their anti-Jewish bigotry within a like-minded movement.
The reaction by the political left, including the Democrat Party, to 10/7 across the world was the polar opposite of the reaction to 9/11. After 9/11, everyone, including the political left (with the exception of some radical leftists like Democrat President Barack Obama’s personal pastor) was to mourn the victims, condemn the Islamist al Qaeda terrorists, and support America. After 10/7, under Democrat President Joe Biden, the political left maligned Israel and its victims, supported the Islamist Hamas terrorists, and began a concerted and increasingly hateful and violent campaign Israel and the Jewish people. The Democrat Biden administration openly enabled and tacitly embraced this anti-Jewish campaign of terror by the left by sitting back and taking no action to stop it.
This was allowed to continue unabated until Republican Donald Trump took office and took bold and decisive actions to stop it, including filing civil rights lawsuits against those universities and depriving them of billions of dollars of funding. The anti-Israel/Jewish actions by the left continue in many other arenas, particularly in states and cities governed by Democrats, but the Republican Trump administration, the Republican-controlled Congress, and Republican officials at the state and local levels across the country continue to take bold actions to counter it.
The 9/11 and 10/7 mass murder terrorist attacks were virtually identical: Both attacks were perpetrated by Islamist terrorists seeking to impose their radical brand of Islam on the entire world through any means available, with their chosen means being mass murder.
So what accounts for the different reactions by the Democrats and political left?
It’s obvious, isn’t it? Bigotry. Pure and simple hate and bigotry: The 9/11 attacks were against the diverse American people. The 10/7 attacks were against the Jews.
The difference in reaction by the left is accountable specifically to the world’s oldest bigotry, the bigotry and hatred of the Jewish people. The same bigotry and hatred that motivated the Nazis to murder 1/3 of the entire global population of the Jewish people. The nature and level of bigotry, hatred, and malice toward the Jewish people by the Nazis and by today’s left is identical.
OK, today’s left hasn’t tried to commit genocide of the Jews like the Nazis did, but that’s only because they haven’t yet been in a position to try. The Nazis hated Jews in the 1920s but lacked the power to do anything to oppress the Jews. It was only when they were democratically elected to power in the early 1930s that they gained the power to oppress and ultimately murder the Jews – and used that power to do it. If the Democrats are democratically elected to power, there is no rational reason to expect that they wouldn’t do the same as their Nazi forebears given their identical anti-Jewish hostility and their established history anti-Jewish oppression and violence under the last Democrat president.
The Democrats have already aligned with the Islamists and have been fielding more and more of them as their Party’s candidates, especially in this year’s elections. And many of their other candidates who are not themselves Islamists, such as the so-called “Democratic Socialists” whose own charter openly expresses that they are authoritarian communists with a hostility to Israel and the Jewish people, openly align with and support the Islamists’ cause against Israel and the Jewish people.
An exemplar is the Democrat Islamist Hamas sympathizer Mayor of New York City, who has openly supported global Jewish genocide – The Democrats nominated him to be their candidate and then elected him into the mayoralty of our nation’s largest city – on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks that were perpetrated there by this mayor’s fellow Islamists. It was entirely predictable that since Democrat Islamist Zohran Mamdani took office just 8 months ago, anti-Jewish hate crimes in NYC have increased by 182% because of his anti-Jewish incitement and refusal to take any action to counter it. In fact, this Islamist Democrat mayor has openly worked to block efforts to increase security at Jewish schools and synagogues and other Jewish locations. He has also deliberately excluded all Jews from his judicial selection panel.
This is who today’s Democrats are.
Again, the Nazis also didn’t go straight to committing genocide when they took power. They started by limiting the civil rights of Jews and then increasingly engaging in violence and oppression against the Jews until they ultimately perpetrated their genocide. Today’s Democrats have the exact same hate and bigotry against the Jews as the Nazis had, and they have already engaged in a nationwide campaign of suppression of Jewish civil rights and violence under Joe Biden and Zohran Mamdani. Why would we think they would not continue and expand that anti-Jewish oppression if they obtained greater power with the presidency and control of Congress?
Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it. People of good conscience, whether Jewish or not, cannot look away or just shrug this off this threat as too radical an assertion to be taken seriously. It already did happen in Nazi Germany, and the early stages of the exact same conduct as the Nazis has already happened and continues to happen under the Democrats here today.
After the Holocaust, the entire mortified world – except for the Arab/Muslim world – joined the Jewish people and their historic homeland and nation of Israel in a pledge of “Never Again.” The Democrats have now openly abandoned that pledge and have become the modern Nazis.
So, Never Again is NOW.
Last time, no one rallied to support the Jewish people, and the Nazis succeeded in killing 6,000,000 Jews. Will the world once again abandon the Jews to today’s left and Democrat Party – today’s Nazis – to finish the war on the Jewish people waged by their Nazi forebears? Or will the world learn from history, stand up to these modern Nazis, and firmly oppose them and tell them “Never Again?”
On the 25th anniversary of 9/11 – happening during this year’s decisive mid-term elections for control of our Congress – this life-or-death call to action must be answered by all Americans of good conscience.
