After President Trump was shot and very nearly assassinated yesterday, prominent Democrats wasted no time running to microphones to express their “horror” and “relief” that he was safe. It was all platitudes.
Their words and actions for years on end have demonstrated beyond any question: They want him dead.
Yes, that’s a provocative statement, but let’s look at the evidence:
From the moment that Donald Trump entered politics, Democrats have been engaging in the most dishonest hateful fear-mongering rhetoric imaginable, calling him a “white supremacist” and “Nazi” and, in this election cycle, most prominently a “threat to democracy itself.”
During his presidency they launched a multi-year investigation against him on charges of collusion with Russia that originated from a “dossier” that was entirely fabricated by an agent of the Hillary Clinton campaign.
In other words, they framed him.
They impeached him twice based on absolutely no evidence of any high crime or misdemeanor – the second time unconstitutionally after he had already left office.
Democrat “comedians” literally called for him to be beheaded and for his pre-teen son to be raped.
In 2017, inspired by all of this Democrat hate and fear-mongering, a Democrat gunman assaulted a group of Republican congressmen who were conducting a softball practice and shot House Republican Whip Steve Scalise, nearly killing him.
The Democrats nevertheless continued their non-stop barrage of dishonest hateful fear-mongering rhetoric against Trump and other Republicans with no letup, thereby proving that they support the political violence that their rhetoric inspires.
After Trump left office but made clear that he intended to run for reelection in 2024, the Democrats colluded to weaponize the justice system at the state and federal levels to engage in “lawfare” against him, bring dozens of baseless criminal charges against him to try to undermine his campaign and disqualify him from being able to run.
They also filed lawsuits to try to remove him from the ballot until the Supreme Court protected democracy from the Democrats by shutting down those efforts.
All the while, the Democrats, with the active help of their “news” media allies, continued their fear-mongering propaganda campaign that re-electing Trump would constitute an “end to democracy in America.”
But ginning up hate against Trump was only half the work in promoting political violence against him. They also had to do what they could to make him as vulnerable to it as possible.
This past April, Democrat Congressman Bennie Thompson, the Ranking Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee, and eight other House Democrats introduced legislation to strip former President Trump of the Secret Service protection provided to all former presidents, singling out only Donald Trump.
There can be no other reason for them to have introduced this bill than that they wanted to make it as easy as possible for someone to kill him. In fact, given that the Secret Service saved President Trump’s life on July 13th, if this bill had been passed into law, President Trump would now be dead, and we have to assume that’s exactly what these Democrats wanted.
It has also been reported that the Trump campaign has been requesting for months that his Secret Service protection be increased, but Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas has denied these requests.
It is fair to ask whether the assassination attempt on Trump would have been prevented had his Secret Service detail had the additional resources that had been requested and denied by this Democrat cabinet secretary. If the request had been made by any presumed major party nominee other than Donald Trump, would it have been granted?
So, no, when prominent Democrats express “relief” that Trump is safe and how “horrified” they are at the “intolerable” political violence, there is absolutely no reason to believe them.
These Democrats personally inspired – and enabled – this political violence, and the blood we saw on President Trump’s face on July 13th is on their hands.
